Journal Entry

Gratitude and Great Reads

Mar 28, 2025

This week has been focused on reading and running. My shoulder is still injured, limiting my activities. I’ve just finished Fahrenheit 451 and Nietzsche’s Beyond Good and Evil. (Book reports coming soon!) Two vastly different books, but both excellent. I’m now about to embark on a week of Jules Verne.

I want to use this entry to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has supported me during my time here. I am truly blessed. So many people have sent books (including the ones I’m currently reading), book suggestions, a few dollars for late-night snacks from the commissary, and kind words of encouragement. I genuinely appreciate everything my family, friends, and readers do for me.

I particularly cherish the suggestions for my reading list. I wasn’t much of a reader before, and it’s wonderful to receive genuine recommendations from real people, unlike the lists generated by AI. I intend to read every book on my list while I’m here, but I’m prioritizing the ones suggested by people I know. When I read a book recommended by friends or family, not only do I know it will be an interesting read, but it also helps me feel closer to them, gaining a little insight into how their minds work.

Again, thank you to everyone who has reached out or helped in any way during this difficult time. I plan on thanking you all in person (or via FaceTime) in a few months when I’m released.

That’s all for today; I have a lot of reading to do. More prison stories next time. Take care of each other and the world out there, so I have a great place and great people to return to.
